Rejoined my BSSC soccer team for the fall season and played my first game this afternoon. We tied 0-0, playing on a hot synthetic field in Lexington in 85 degree heat. Well, this weekend was centered around soccer. On Saturday, I played in a 7 vs. 7 tournament with my co-workers from The MathWorks at Tufts University, my alma mater. Well, this past Sunday, we tied again, 2-2. We had a hodge-podge of players with half of our team not around and the other half of our team invited someone we didn't know (including me). We had a 2-0 lead at half time thanks to a great goal keeper and a couple of headers but we fell apart in the second half and escaped with the tie. I played pretty horribly. Well, it appears we are about to walk away from our house after we thought we were all set. The cost to fix the lead pipe is growing with each estimate we get and the driveway property line issue is turning into a bigger deal too. So, at this point we are walking away it would seem. This past week, we lost again - about 28-14 to Simulink. Our record is now 1-2. I haven't caught a ball yet in the outfield this season and hit pretty horribly this last game too - only a couple of singles. I think I was trying too hard to hit the ball to the opposite field. Well, I was out of work sick yesterday so I missed our softball game this week. Apparently we lost a heart breaker - 11-10 in the bottom of the 7th inning. So, our record is now 1-1. Well, I guess this is technically day 2 since Steph and I did look go to a couple of open houses last week but today was the first day we went and saw a few houses with our realtor. Today, our focus was in Somerville. Yesterday's Red Sox game on Patriots' Day at Fenway Park was great for many reasons: The Red Sox won, 7-2, the offense came alive, and Beckett pitched well again. Last night, the Boston Teachers Union approved their four year contract so a strike has officially been averted. I didn't see any news coverage on this unlike a few weeks ago when it appeared a strike was imminent. The pay increases don't kick in until May but it is retroactive to last September so Steph should be happy on that pay day. Finally one of us gets a raise!

Yesterday when I got home from work, I was surprised to see a package from Circuit City already. Could it be the Wii? After three plus months of patiently waiting to buy a Nintendo Wii at face value, I was finally able to find one available on Circuit City's web site. It was part of a bundle but I was able to remove one of the games, so it's basically what I wanted - the Wii, Zelda and an extra Remote and nunchuk controller.
